Before hiring a skip consider how the lorry will obtain access. We require a minimum width of 10 feet to gain access through gates and driveways, as well as narrow roads leading to the property, if they’re small this could pose an issue. If you are concerned, speak to a member of our team before your delivery.
Choosing the right size container for your project can be a daunting task. We can help you with that, with a few questions we can advise you on the right product for the job.
We understand that plans change for all kinds of reasons.
If you need to postpone your booked delivery or exchange, just let us know as soon as possible. As long as the driver is not already on route to you, we can change date of service without an issue.
If you decide you dont want the skip at all, please let us know the day before and we will cancel the service for you.
All of our skips are provided for 1-week hire period. The collection will be booked for the 7th day after your delivery day.
If you need it for longer, that is fine. Just let us know and you can book an extra week with prices starting from £25.00
Both the delivery and the collection of the skip will be arranged with you at the time of order. If you know you will need the skip emptied and replaced before it is taken away, this can be booked at the same time as your delivery.
If you want a more precise time of arrival, please contact our offices where one of our team will be happy to help and provide you with a time window for your delivery.
Skips need to be placed in a suitable location.
This should be on a hard surface where possible.
The skip may be heavy when it comes to be collected, the driver will generally drop the vehicles stabilising legs. They will use protecting boards, but if the location of the skip is on ‘soft’ ground, there may be indentations left on the surface.
It should be noted that the driver will place the skip where instructed unless they feel there will be issues during collection as a result of your chosen location. If this is the case the driver will speak with you to agree the best course of action for your delivery to proceed.
Once the skip is delivered by our vehicle it should not be moved from this location.
If you require the skip to be placed on the public highway, a skip Permit must be obtained prior to delivery from the Local Authority. This is chargeable and has a number of safety stipulations. The skip must be illuminated during the hours of darkness and have chevrons on each end of the skip. If you have arranged your own permit directly with the local authority and not through Ellgia, please let us know this at the time of booking as we require a copy of this to be on file and also to ensure we bring with us all required equipment.
Waste must be contained within the skip and loaded to the level of the container.
Items that cannot be taken in our skips as a mixed load include:
